RE: dumb question about using "dummy load" to break in speaker cables

I would suggest putting the resistors maybe on a board off the floor or rug. How hot the resistor will get will be a function of the wattage rating of the resistor, the power of your amp and how high you turn it up, mostly the latter. Most music you listen to is somewhat likely to be like under 10 watts or so as a ball park, or even less. The low cost 100W resistor below would be plenty for your uses.
