In the 1970s phono section was crucial for amp's success - there was no CD at that time. In the 1990s phono section became an ornament, because not many people who bought integrateds listened to vinyl.

Ask for recommendation on vintage group.

Here is what I would recommend in your price range


1. Kenwood 600 (around $400) 130wpc - awesome all round performer
excellent phono
2. Yamaha 2010 (around $300) 100wpc works in class A first 30 watts
awesome phono
3. Sansui AU-919 ($300-400)

It is a must to bring the vintage amps up to the original spec. Buy repair manual on ebay.
