I went ahead and matched the resistance of my speaker wires over the last 4 days.
3 pair of 14awg for the shorter run and 4 pair of 14awg for the longer run.
My integrated amp (Sansui au317) definitely appreciates the "balanced load", so do I.
Could be a placebo..
My wife actually mentioned that it "sounds nice", after having no opinion
of the numerous iterations of cables over the years.
As far as being able to hear minute differences, I would like to suggest a book.

3500 pieces of space hardware delivered and not one failure...over 20 years.

It wouldn't be the amp that's happy, it would be the speakers.

Some speakers need a lot of damping and if one speaker has more than the other that would cause one speaker to sound different than the other and that will hurt the image/soundstage.

Note, DC resistance in the speaker wire lowers the damping factor of the amp as seen by the speaker.
