Hey folks, got a 6c45p-based DAC. It's a solid performer, but those tubes...well, they're very detailed...among other unpleasant things. Initially,I thought the annoying highs would go away during break-in, and they did, but not completely.

Eventually I realized that I can't listen to it for long periods of time. And I foolishly also bought 4 pairs of 6c45, tubes, and 4 Soviet-made 6c4p-ev rectifiers(6ц4п-ев). That was really silly.

I talked to DAC's designer and asked to rewire the 6c45 and 6z4 sockets for using 5842 and 6x4 tubes instead.

Now you know the story, I need a pair of not too expensive smooth 5842 variant recs.

Thanks in advance, guys.

Funny, they sound great now, just needed to put some hours on them, although a bit longer than other tubes I have. Even though I bought great WE 417a tubes, still the 6c45 stuff sounds really good, but the WEs surely sound different, more tubey.
