Wise people of the Asylum Forum...

I'm in New Zealand at the bottom of the planet. A quiet place, however a little bit out of the way and no really good suppliers, although we can source from pretty much anywhere in the world.

I'm building a preamp and looking for recommendations for brands and suppliers of potentiometers and knobs, RCA sockets and power switches. Quality is the key and cost is down the list of priorities.

Who are your "go to" suppliers and brands for items like this?

Thanks in advance

For pots and switches, Mouser Electronics is one of the best sources.
For the more audiophile grade stuff like the RCA sockets, Parts Connexion in Canada is good.

I buy most parts from Mouser. For level controls I use Goldpoint.

I live in Australia and order from Mouser regularly. If I spend more than A$60, shipping is free and it usually takes less than two weeks.

Everything is well packed and you know you are getting verified products.

I have found Ebay to be a good source. Chinese sellers are a pretty good source.

Belton produces top quality tube sockets. Alpha and Bourns pots are reliable. I use Centralab bias pots sold by Antique Electronic supply. They also have very high quality hookup wire that's impossible to find anywhere else. Switchcraft is my go-to for all RCA jacks. I also buy a lot of components from Digikey - name brand coupling caps, metal oxide resistors, etc.

One good supplier so at least you can see some choices.

I wish I could locate those very pretty skirted knobs.

Wow, that's a beautiful preamp! Is that a commercial design, or a one-off?

Thanks @triode_kingdom

What brand of cable do you use as hook up wire ? You mentioned that you source this from Antique Electronic Supply

Cheers Dave

Brings back memories. Can't remember where I saw/heard it but it's even more beautiful in person! Thank you.
