I was reading the review of GoldenEar T66 speaker in Stereophile when I noticed that this new speaker has the same dimensions as my old speaker, Definitive Technology BP 2004.It has the same positioning of the drivers but different sizes as also built in powered subwoofers. I guess the designers were old friends. Of course judging from the review the T66 sounds much better than my speakers.
The built in powered subwoofer is a bother. My power amps inside are silent now and carrying the heavy speakers to the service will need movers.I wish the powered subs were separate boxes.

Copper and iron are heavy when the parts are large due to the frequency range at bass region

The amp pictured out of speaker is small in size and weight. class d amp type benefits

Units only 60 lbs total, some bookshelf units weigh dang near it.

Old friends indeed!

GoldenEar's Sandy Gross founded Polk Audio and was a co-founder of Definitive Technology.

Addendum/correction:

GoldenEar's Sandy Gross co-founded Polk Audio and was a co-founder of Definitive Technology.

And Sandy had a partner in both companies who was also the chief designer for both companies.

Have heard both designers have worked with Henri Kloss at KLH. Explains the quality of GoldenEar. The GoldenEar7 is a favorite of mine.

Who are the designers that worked with Kloss. Plus Sand y was a great concept man but his partner, who was from canada, was the nuts and bolts designer at both companies.
