Mine is parafeed but the original design was series feed.

I wondered who would be the first to take up that idea. Nice going!
Sound assessment?

Not my idea. From a schematic I found in 2014, posted on February 28, 2024 at 01:22:15

amps by Torsten Eisenberg. I just made a parafeed version because that is the iron I had lying about for a 2a3 amp.

How it sounds. My adult kids who never seem to be impressed by any of my previous amps (mostly el84 se) said it was next level.

It is the quietest and best sounding amp I've ever built.

Ah, I see. When I saw your post I remembered a post PJ made back when Mike was doing the FS-100's and thought you'd taken the idea from there.

Not surprised your kids like them.

Nice hammertone colour on the lams!, by the way.

You are correct about the parafeed part! That was PJ's, posted on February 29, 2024 at 00:14:00

post.

Thanks..yeah the colour was just serendipitous. Found it at a 2nd hand store. And probably subconsciously rememembered Don Garber's preamp with a very similar if not the same colour.

Did think about converting to pentode. Once had a 300b driven by a pentode wired el84. But the rest of the amp was not up to scratch...so it lives no more.

That's some very nice Chassis Work you have there! ........ nt, posted on March 1, 2024 at 07:06:55

Beautiful work! I have a pair of those chokes in my stash, waiting for time and inspiration. Thank you for supplying the inspiration! Time is another problem entirely.

I love that blue/green iridescent hammertone. Do you happen to have a brand and color name for that? I see you posted you found it at a second-hand store...what a great find! It's drop-dead gorgeous! Hoping it could still be sourced somewhere.

Not exactly the same color but Analog Ethos is another amp builder that likes a similar green - use link below.

Yep, Don was a world class Graphic Artist.
(and colorist, I might add)
When I was at the memorial, one of these (2b)
was connected to a pair of 300B's.
"Altec" green always looks good.

I like the Analog Ethos color also, but since I
live in Palm Springs, I see the green ("seafoam"), orange and cream
everywhere.
(My front door is lime.)

I have a file with many of his creations...and everytime I look at the pics I think to myself. What a genius this guy was!

Is this a production amp, a DIY amp, or something you had built per your specs? (I could not find anything on the amp in a Google search.) Thank you much.

I built this from the ground up.
. Some chassis I build bespoke but this particular one I liked and was built in China. The circuit I designed utilizing an 8608 tube. This tube was quite rare and only used in a Tectronix dual tracer oscilloscope so far as I know.
