I'm thinking about having a pair of 612c cabinets built for my 604-8H-IIIs and I'm questioning whether or not the port size recommended by Altec in Altec Notes AN #5 for a 604-8K (48.68 sq. in./ 6 1/4" X 7 3/4") is correct for my speakers. Any thoughts?
Thanks!
M

Model it in WinISD 0.7 and you'll know.

Assuming it's ~the same net volume (Vb) as my '50s era specs (~6.32 ft3) then per Hornresp it's ~53 Hz, which makes it max flat if driven with a voltage amp, so once the driver displacement is factored in will cause a tiny bump up at Fb, i.e. standard vintage Altec tuning.
Loud is Beautiful if it's Clean! As always though, the usual disclaimers apply to this post's contents.
