I'm streaming Quobuz from my MacBook to the DAC in my SACD player. I only have one stereo system in the house.

Am I losing any musical fidelity? What would Roon add?

If you want to explore Roon they offer a free trial. You can install it on a Mac / PC / Server / or NAS. You can control Roon from the Mac / PC you install it on.

You can optionally install the FREE Roon Remote on your iPad / Tablet / iPhone / Android phone and control it from one of these portable devices.

. . . I would say you don't need Roon.

If 100% of your listening is streaming Qobuz and playing disks then you have no music library to manage, which is the primary function of Roon.

Roon also has some sophisticated DSP capabilities, but you already have that taken care of with BACCH4MAC and Anthem. The other thing Roon adds is multi-room adaptability, but I gather that is not a priority for you.

You have put together what looks like a terrific system. Enjoy it.

. . . in theory, practice and theory are the same; in practice, they are different . . .

According to them:

"Roon brings all your music together and adds tons of data - bios, reviews, photos, lyrics, tour dates, and cross-linked credits for performers, songwriters, producers, engineers, and composers."

Metadata.

that simply isn't true.

I've been a happy user of LMS for over ten years, but it offers nothing in the way of external links and metadata about the artists, recordings, concert halls, etc. found with Roon.

Roon is not optimized for SQ, IME. It's great, and has a lot of metadata and functionality, but I get better SQ with other options. Roon will not improve Qobuz.

I would instead try other services like Tidal or Apple Music. None are perfect and each has its own unique pros and cons.

All this said, a MacBook is not an ideal source, but that's a different question.

Hmm. I am new to LMS but I just installed Daphile and it certainly looks like all it is really doing is LMS and plugins. On the phone and ipad the browser shortcut says LMS

I have some plugins like Material Skin and the Music and Artist Info plugin where they DO show you info and links to more info. There is info on the artist, the album and track lyrics. It might not be extensive as Roon but its pretty extensive and all free. Here are some screen shots:

Good to know. My collection is obscure and well I am not surprised All music is missing info about it, but it is a bit surprising with other genres. There is also a "song info" and "song lyrics" plugin that might have more.
