Thank you.

Unfortunately I am really unable to reveal who did the final assembly as he said that he is only happy to do the work for his well established customers on a personal basis. However not all is lost as it would be possible to build the same cartridge on a DIY basis given a steady hand as the "components" are obtainable.
The installation of the sapphire cantilever and their proprietory Paratrace stylus was done by the Expert Stylus Company who are pretty well known worldwide. Just buy a 103R and send it to them. No website I am afraid but I am sure that someone here has their contact details if you ask. The malachite body is from Uwe Bretschneider.
Here is a picture of my one in situ.
Very interesting. I'll look into the DIY aspect. Not a stretch for me as I spent 26 years looking through high power microscopes (IC design and test engineer for implantable medical devices). Sounds like a fun project.
BTW, thanks for motivating me to upgrade my Orbe a couple months ago. The kit (full table mod and armboard mod) is in house and I hope to start tomorrow. I've looked it over and it's quite brilliant. The instructions are well written and Gert also includes a data disc with pictures of every step which really helps.
May I take this opportunity to wish you every success with the Orbe project (and the cartridge one if you go ahead). I hope that you will post here on the result, maybe with some pictures.
Kind Regards
Pete
Thanks again for all your help.
Here's the kit. I'll post when the project is complete and I've taken some time to evaluate the improvements.
...and hearing your opinion.
Kind Regards
Pete
These mods makes it as Good as ....?
" These mods makes it as Good as ....?"
A reasonable question that seems impossible to answer without having heard every other cartridge. I cannot think of anything that equals it offhand but presumably and given the huge range of available cartridges, there may well be something.
