I have the 3.5R's and the CC3 center. I use the Krell Home Theater Standard, all connected with solid silver speaker wire and interconnects. I think they sound great, very detailed with out being bright and very dynamic. My brother has the 3.6's and runs the Krell KSA 300. I have never been short on power with the Krell HTS, you can even reconfigure it to be a three channel amp.
Perhaps the Emotiva MSP-2 - modular monoblock design (all channels driven) Class H
200 watts/8 ohms
300 watts/4 ohms
400 watts/2 ohms
If you didn't need 7 channels, then perhaps the XPA-5 Class A/B - common power supply
5 channels - 4 ohm = 350 watts per channel
4 channels - 4 ohm = 375 watts per channel
3 channels - 4 ohm = 400 watts per channel
2 channels - 4 ohm = 450 watts per channel
1 channel - 4 ohms = 500 watts per channel
Emotiva has some very attractive options. I have the IPS-1 same as the MPS, just a little less powerful. I love it, it drives my 3.6s without problems and will be setup to biamp them later this week.
They are definitely worth looking at, they have some monster amps too, the XPA-1 and XPA-2 have all the power you could ever want (ok, maybe not all the power, but a hellofalot).
I second the recommendation for the Emotiva XPA-5. It's a brute of an amp.
I'm using a proceed HPA-3 to drive my 3.6's and my MGCC1 center channel. Chiro C-200 is driving the MGCC1 surrounds
I found the Procced was a more dynamic amp for the 3.6 in comparrision to my Brryston 4BST
If I ever have a chance to biamp the 3.6 I will run the bass panels with the bryston and use the proceed for the mid/tweeter
Wyred 4 Sound can configure their multi-channel amps any way you want. I am using their MC 250/500 to biamp my 3.5Rs. W4S amps do require quality isolation/vibration control as well as power cords and interconnects to sound their best, but this is true of all hi-end gear.
Try to find a used California Audio Labs MCA 2500 -- you can control which channels are active, 500 W in 8 / 750 in when run in 4 channel and 1000/4 run in 2 channel.
I have used it with 3.6 / 1.6 surround system and now 20.1 / 1.6 surround. I compared it to Mac 402 monos on 3.6s and liked it better in 2ch. Also better sounding than Sunfire IMO, lower noise floor, more air, wider soundstage.
You should be able to get one for under 2000. $7500 new in 2000.
They will bring your 3.6s alive.
Widescreen Review uses 5 modified monoblock versions of this amp in their top system.
Dr. Jazz,
I read your review on this amp here at Asylum. Nice!
Does California Audio Labs MCA 2500 have a switch for 230V-50Hz?
Do you know its power consumption at that voltage?
Thanks
and it does require a 20 amp line
Did that help you?

thanks to everyone that has gave me a reply i am greatful i was wandering which is superior in the anthem a5,sunfire 400 times 7 or the parasound halo i hear they will all work but i want to also use my mcintosh mc207 thanks in advance for al those willing to help
I would NOT buy a McIntosh 207 to drive 3.6 Maggies. I am a huge fan of McIntosh, but 200 wpc is just not enoough power for 3.6s. That is a very expensive amp and you will NOT be satisfied with the power output driving your speakers.
I went through a couple of other very nice but underpowered amps before finding MC501s for my 3.6s, an amazing combination to my ears. The difference is huge. I would recommend at least a 402 for your mains and then something smaller for the rest of your speakers.
Good luck in your search
i meant to say i want to use the mc207 in addition to a new amp
Well.... I think you came to the right place!
