...and SRV played it as well as anyone. Hopefully you also have "Couldn't Stand the Weather" on which he played another Hendrix tune - 'Voodoo Chile', but the best part of that CD is 'Tin Pan Alley'. That song somehow sounds like it was written for planars. It's such a shame that a helicopter crash took him away from us - he was a rare talent.

Follow Ups:
Tin Pan Alley is the ruler to measure by.
Little Wing by SRV is the song I want played at my funeral. It sets me free every time I here it. I think Stevie was channeling a higher power when he recorded it. I thought I was the only one, glad to see we're on the same page guys. Tin pan alley is also incredible, just not as moving IMHO.
"Little Wing" is Jimi Hendrix' masterwork in my opinion - maybe other songs garnered him more fame, but that one just reaches into one's heart in a way few other songs ever have (for me). I agree about the way Stevie played it - as though he were channeling Hendrix. "Tin Pan Alley" doesn't have the emotion of "Little Wing", but it's a great tune (by R. Giddens) and Stevie's version is not only awesome, but it simply sounds *incredible* - and best on planars!
