thanx everyone for the graphs you provided..it helps much.what i really wanted to find out was if the impedance dropped below the nominal 4 ohms..apparently , it doesn't.

Wish you would have asked that in the first place. Most of us are aware that the 1.6's impedance never goes lower than around 4.5 ohm.
As a result there are a wide variety or amps with 4 ohm ratings that will work just fine. If your room is fairly big and you listen to wide dynamic range music at moderately loud levels, think of at least 200 wpc. My EC AW70 mono blocks puts out 340wpc into 4 ohms. Depending on the recording, I can sometimes use most of it.
sorry about that,but in a sense it was very edifying seeing the graphs. i think now that i can save a little money and go for the bryston 3bsst,instead of the 4bsst,i think the 3bsst gives about 300watts into 4 ohms.
