Anyone familiar with the DSD player plugin for LMS? I have it running on an RPI4 with PiCorePlayer and streaming to a USB connected Topiing D10.
When connecting the D10 to windoze and playing through Jriver the topping's display shows "DSD"
But when playing through the RPI and LMS with the DSD plugin the display shows "352 pcm".
Is the plugin "packing" the bitstream into DSD over PCM?
Or is it converting to PCM?
Not a big deal to me, the LPs I am ripping to DSD sound amazing.
For example comparing my DSD rip of the MFSL Beatles Collection Sgt. Pepper's album vs. the 24x48 digital release from the authorized Apple USB chip (remastered tracks I guess), I have to give the preference - somewhat to my surprise - to my MFSL vinyl rip. The vinyl rip has more even tonal balance overall. The USB chip release has more forward and strident vocals and horns. The LP rip vocals are more natural sounding.
Probably some of the credit must for this to the Music Hall TT and Audio-Technica MC cartridge. Not sure I would have the same preference if I had used the Grado Gold MM cartridge.

Follow Ups:
I play DSD all of the time, but have never used the 'DSD Pluggin'..... I use native DSD..... Not exactly sure what you want, but I would have posted this under the PC Audio Forum for more 'eyes'.
What do you want to do?
Using RPI4 running Squeezelite and LMS to stream native DSD to USB connected Topping D10.

I did get LMS to stream direct DSD to the Topping D10. The D10 is now showing "2.82 DSD" on the display.
It required entering "-D" (without the quotes of course) into squeezelite config field labelled DSD/DoP.
I guess shows the value of having those stream format and bitrate displays, otherwise I would never have known what was happening.
Anyway here are all my squeezelite config setting to get DSD direct into a USB connected Topping D10 hardware native DSD dac using PiCorePlayer,Squeezelite and LMS, in case anyone else is anal enough to want it:

It is probably doing DoP, DSD over PCM.
As for Sgt Pepper, I have the 50th anniversary vinyl and that version is very forward with vocals. It sounds like a different album sometimes. Also the bass is brought forward, a lot. I'm guessing the Apple USB uses the remastered version on the vinyl.
I also have the remastered White Album vinyl and the MFSL White Album. The remaster sounds much better to my ears, probably a lot closer to what they heard in the studio before the original mixes.

I am not a sound engineer, never been in a recording studio. So I am curious to what is your reasoning for the above?
