They divide it up like this:
class A solid state
class A Tube
class B
class C
First off that makes no sense. Why separate tube and solidstate but then lump them together for b and c classes??
If you do it for A, then do it for the rest.
And you have to be kidding me that there are only 5 amps that qualify for class b, and only one solidstate?? Only one class c rating?? Seems like they review enough amps that there should be more or they just manage to pick the dogs.
And it took me a while to not see a contradiction in saying "No Class D amplifiers listed" when they reviewed the Bel Canto. But then I realized that they werent talking about digital amps :)
Also the way Tas did this years ago by price was way better. People use that stuff for purchases so having to wade through all the pricey amps is a waste of time. Also why would I buy the Luxman at $19k when I could get the same class in the Levinson for $8k?

We have been consistently distinguishing between the two different meanings
of the conjoined words "class" and "D" for 40 years:
An amplifier with a switching output stage is "class-D"
An amplifier rated in the lowest category of our "Recommended Components"
listing is "Class D"
Study the differences - there will be a test.

Awesome. I am great at tests.
But come on John THAT is the one point I raised that you respond too?
The joke point??
