Hell all:
I own the Kimber Silver Streak, with WBT connectors. They now retail for over $400 per 1/M pair.
Any other suggestions for pure silver or hybrid silver ICs that are fairly priced?
Thanks in advance.

Do a search on Venhaus DIY silver interconnects (info on making them plus supplies at VH Audio.) I built a pair, one with Eichman Silver and the other with DH Labs Ultimate RCAs. I'm replacing some more expensive interconnects with these DIY cables. Seriously good. I also have a pair of KGAG (pre WBT rcas, though), and not sure if I like my DIY Venhaus silvers or the Kimbers any better than each other, both work well in my system.
You'll have to buy unheard I guess, but I have a couple fo sets and I give them a very big thumbs up for value and outright quality.
HE will also make other lengths at a pretty good price.
The Acoustic Zen Silver Reference II is the best I've heard with my gear and Spendor SP1/2e's. And I've listened to a whole bunch of others.
Check out Audiogon.com for used around $450.
All my best,
Tom
Thanks. I own a few AZ power cords. They make excellent stuff.
Yes, they sure do. I've compared the SRII's to every other front runner, and they always win me over with their incredible timbral accuracy, air, soundstage, solid bass and silky highs.

Gentleman all:
Thanks for all the suggestions. I think I'm going with an Acoustic Zen Silver Ref II. Incredible cable and available at less then half of retail used.
You might consider Element Cable Silver Seranade ($129 RCA, $149 XLR). I use these when I have the PS Audio Transcendents on the cable cooker. The EC SS is excellent for the price. I was surprised at how close they are to the PSA cables. The ECs have a little glare compared to the Transcendents, not quite as refined, but they are not that far behind overall.
I use the DH Labs Revelation interconnects. They are $400 per meter and silver. I really like them!

I read your Ayre vs. Naim CDP comparison, where you switched cables. I have experimented a lot with silver cables, and I felt just as strongly as you do about price, but after many sessions I became convinced that Audio Note AN-Vx is the best non-astronomically priced cable to place between a CDP and preamp. It is balanced, detailed, fast, and accurate. No glare, no brightness, no forwardness.
But it costs like $1200/M. Still, I finally broke down and have never looked back. It sits between an AN CD3.1/xII and a Meishu integrated SET.

I cant blame you for splurging...Audio Note makes great stuff. For sure too rich for me. I can afford it, but on principle I cant pay over 1K for an interconnect. Id love to hear them!
Also, some older postings make the distinction between pure silver and silver alloy, which is a much cheaper and lower grade silver. Im wondering if most of the sub $300 cables are using silver alloy. I know Kimber, Harmonic Tech, and a few others are using only pure silver.
What I get from silver is a delicacy and silkiness in the highs.
I went from cable to cable until I stopped for a long time at Audio Note Lexus, but then I got a new Audio Note CD player and after I broke it in I wired it with Vx digital and analogue signal cables. I could hear a difference I really liked, esp on headphones. It just kept getting better and better, so I broke down and got the IC's which I am now breaking in. Same story.

I would suggest DH Labs Air Matrix. I had the Kimber Siler Streak- one of my least favorite cables ( at the time, in my all SS system, they were simply bright IMO). The DH Labs have the clarity without the brightness and great locking RCA's. Less than $200 a metre.
Check out the Pure Note Alluvions. Best cable they have made to date. Great company to do business with. They are running a 50% off sale now.
I believe the Zu Gede and up are silver alloy cables - don't know what they mean by "alloy" but they've gotten good reviews.
Thanks. Ive heard great things about their speakers too.
Check out Home Grown Audio.
Quite reasonable cost and DIY kits too.http://www.homegrownaudio.com/cable_kits.htm

I had the Kimber KCTG which is twice the size of silver wire and had WBT-0108's. I got the Anticables Silver with silver Eichmanns for $250 I think and they are a lot better. The silver w/silver Eichmann is not on their page just ask for it.

Interesting. The Anti Cables beat out the 4x as expensive Kimbers in your system. Good find.
Actually the anticables w/silver wore and silver Eichmann RCA's (not the standard copper) are $250. The Kimber was over $500 retail in 2002 but is no longer made I think. Good luck!

Try MAC (My Audio Cables).

I've been curious about the interconnects sold by Decware that use silver ribbons. Very reasonably priced. I've dealt with Decware a couple times previously on other purchases and they are great to work with.
For hybrid, Grover Huffman cables are also a great deal. He offers a generous trial period as well. I own a set of interconnects and speaker cables and they are very good.
Great..I will for SURE check these out. I also thought about just moving up to the Kimber KCAG silvers but at almost $1000 for a meter, that is beyond my price range.
I have had the KCAG and they were just too hot in the top end. They are best with very warm ripe tube gear and they will be fine. With SS gear they will peel paint off the walls in my system. In the right system, they have a walth of detail. Perhaps with SS, they are revealing why so many like tubes...no consistent glare with many SS systems. Jallen
I have found it is not really necessary to pay more than $500 for a 1m IC, especially considering the used deals available. I've had ICs that list for $2000 and while one can tell the improvement in sound, the cost/benefit ratio doesn't compute.
A great silver cable is the Signal Cable Silver, great sound and very reasonable price. Also, making your own with silver plated silver yields a great cable. I like the tried and true Kimber 3 wire braid design with various cables/wire from solid core to stranded silver (5 nines) and others. I have made about 50 different designs and they are all a bit different is sound. Jallen
