Sam, The purpose of the cap-bypass switches in the preamp's line stage is to soften the sound during the break-in process. Factory pre-set is ON and it appears the original owner never switched these switches off after the preamp broke in. Suggest you switch these switches OFF. This will extend the high frequency response and improve stereo imaging. Regards, Jerry/AI's Tech

Jerry, Thank so much and how about Hi and Lo switch, what should be the right setting position on this dip switch, I am using Audio Research Classic 30(Input Impedance 100K ohms) as the power amp.
