I've also purchased a few sealed records from the 80s and ended up with really warped disks. However, I've been able to save all of them by placing them between two 12" X 12" granite slabs (the type sold at Eagle Hardware for flooring) and laying them in the sun for the day. I let them cool down for about 4 hours after sunset and the warp is 90 to 100% gone (you can repeat if you want to remove a little more).
Unfortunately, I've had a few people "bother" my sun-bakery so be sure to hide it if you can.

Your homebrew cure for warped records is intriguing. Please help with these questions. Do you place the whole record album, including cover and inner sleeve, between the slabs? If not, how do you protect vinyl surfaces? What's the approximate thickness and weight of each granite slab? On a hot sunny day, is there a risk of over-baking? Any outside ambient temperature recommendation?

  I use black granite slabs which are flat and highly polished, about 10mm thick (from Eagle Hardware flooring dept., $7 each). I originally wanted thicker and heavier slabs but a custom cut was too expensive. Fortunately, these do the job fine. I don't know how much they weight but I'm sure I'd break a bone if I ever dropped one on my foot (I don't usually wear shoes). I place only the record between the slabs and haven't noticed any damage to the record surface but I'm careful not to slide the slabs around when positioning the rig.
  After a day in the sun, it is very important to leave the record compressed between the slabs until it completely cools.
  I live in downtown Honolulu so it's hot all year around and have not ever had a vinyl meltdown (even after 2 days of topical sun). I tried the same rig in the oven but encountered the wrath of my wife after only a couple of hours at 150 degrees.
  I always clean the record before this treatment so as to avoid baking in Goodwill and Salvation Army grit.
