I've owned VR-4 gen II's for year and a half now. I can recommend both the VR-4 and VR-4 gen II. The gen II's are significantly smaller yet giving better performance. If the size is not an issue, the older VR-4's will do (almost) just as well.

BTW. The press release about Albert Von Schweikerts new company, the Von Schweikert Audio, also mentioned something about upgrades for existing models. So there's the possibility that you can upgrade your VR-4's later if you decided to buy them now!
