it is bigger and in a nicer neighborhood. Can't believe what some people will waste their money one.
It's looking to be more expensive than Eminem's current mansion in Detroit!Kurt Cobain's childhood home went up for auction some time back. According to NME, bids ran up to $40 million. The only legitimate bid was $210,000, or $10,000 over the minimum, and the house ultimately sold for that amount.
The article also says that the owners originally bought the house for about $42,000, not knowing that it was Kurt's childhood home. In 2000 the house was valued at over $50,000. Kurt's bedroom had not been changed since he lived there. Still, I'm puzzled by why anyone would want to buy such a thing ... unless there's demo tapes hidden in them floors?
The sellers of Eminem's house could have set the auction up so that only legitimate or pre-cleared bidders could enter (as done with many high-priced charity auction items). Maybe the idea was that listing something like this on ebay (even with the bogus bidders) increases publicity on the item for the "real deal" inquiries afterwards. Looks like the owners got a publicity firm to handle the sale.
Could someone older and wiser than I tell me why you would spend so much money on such a thing. I mean, who with that kind of money would want to own it. Now I know this is passing judgement, but I wouldnt expect there to be many people with 10 million dollars burning a hole in there pocket to be that big a fan of Eminems. On top of that, what kind of investment is that. If Eminems career faulters like every other modern pop group that has come before him, then what. Also, what kind of investment is it, I mean, I cant see spending that kind of money unless I could either display it in someway, enjoy it in someway, or it would make me money. I dont see how that house would do any of that. I mean, unless it has a bunch Of Eminems clothing, old music, can be put in a glass showcase, etc, I dont see its value. I would want it signed by the artist as well. I understand when those mantions in Hollywood go for that kind of money, I mean at least its also a really nice house, but this isnt exactly a nice looking house.

Items on e-bay routinely sell for more than they are worth. Sounds to me like a smart way to go about selling a house. Now, tapping into the monumental advertising/persuasive powers of the entertainment industry, that's just brilliant. Sometimes you have to recognize when you're holding a royal flush and show your cards before the game is over. Gotta hand it to this seller. The bidders, hmmmm, another story...
