My system is getting a real workout this weekend. Joni Mitchell's Travelogue is a new double CD that continues where, I think, "Both Sides Now' left off. Once again, a full orchestra backs her up as she sings many of her favorite songs arranged in a "jazzy" style.
The sound is incredible with an extremely vast soundstage! This must have been one big and wide orchestra. The recording is one of the best I've heard. Detail and bass galore. I'm going to be listening to this a lot and for a long time. After the rough week I've had, this is the kind of music to relax and enjoy to. It makes me smile.

WOULD LIKE TO LISTEN TO SOME SAMPLE SONGS BUT AMAZON IS NOT OFFERING AS SUCH
Go to jonimitchell.com, and listen to alot of songs!!
I went, I listened. The arrangements are very creative...they sound great. Now, maybe it's my love of "hard" jazz vocals (ala Shirley Horn, late Betty Carter etc.), but I think Joni Mitchell's voice has taken on some real character -- smoky, like a vintage wine. Very appealing. This is now at the top of my Wish List.
I love Both Sides ! I did'nt know this was out... hi ho hi ho, Its off to Tower I go............
Just bought Travelogue and listened to first disc. If I could take it back for a cash refund, I would.elieve me, I will try. Yes the orchestration was nice, sorry I cannot say the same for the singing. On this disc, if you heard one song, you heard 'em all. More accuraately spoken, if you heard two songs you heard 'em all. Certainly do not have to spread it out over two discs.
