they're one of the discount stores that pop up everywhere on yahoo shopping for music and dvds. sometimes three different prices for lucky truck come up for the same item on yahoo shopping's search engine, and their shipping rates are different on yahoo than on their web site. am puzzled. wondering if anyone has used them before - e-mail me offline if you don't want to be "trashing" anyone's business publicly. thanks.
Follow Ups:
I've been tempted by their prices, which on Yahoo! Shopping have recently been dipping below those of AllDirect. But then I found out Lucky Truck is based in Texas (Dallas...I live in San Antonio) and that made it a no-go. The nice thing about internet shopping is that you skip the sales tax and this helps offset the shipping. With LT, I'd be paying sales tax PLUS shipping, which would completely erase any benefit of the lower price compared to other discounters on the web.I have used both AllDirect (several times), CDUniverse (once or twice) and for European orders, Crotchet--all with good experiences.
Happy spinning,
I've used them a few times (along with most of the other cheapies like AllDirect, CDUniverse, ModernRock, etc.) through Yahoo! Shopping; everything went smoothly. I've noticed different prices on the same title, but that was usually for different remastered versions of that title. Going through Yahoo! Shopping is generally a bit more money than go directly to the original website (unless they are hosted with Yahoo! Stores, in which case the prices are the same), but I find that the search functions & album information for classical music titles in particular are pretty bad on these budget sites, so I'll pay the premium to make sure I get what I want.
On half.com and was informed a few days later that it was out of stock. I did not utilize them for other discs I wanted going forward even if they had a slightly better price.I don't know how half.com works. What stops a company from just listing CD titles for a cheaper price? Trust the disc that I ordered would not be in high demand so I don't believe a wave of folks ordered it (if anyone) and that is why it wasn't in stock. Perhaps they only had one and somebody bought it. I'm assuming it should not be listed for sale then.
FWIW, this is the only time I ordered on half.com and got a notice stating the title was out of stock and I use half.com alot!
Half-com now allows you to leave bad feedback for orders that are cancelled by the seller. I was also concerned about the availability of lucky's items: looking at their Web site, it looks like they don't keep any new things in stock; they just go to their distributor's warehouse after the order is placed.By the way, speaking of half-com, what do you think about condition grading on there? I am often disappointed when something "like new" or "mint" arrives ... and it's clearly not, even from sellers with very good feedback. I don't use half-com much anymore for that reason.
I'm really care only about the CD and that it plays without any problems. Every purchase I've made so far with respect to that, I have had no problems. I also tend to deal with the same resources, even if the price may not be the lowest. Some give a free upgrade to first class shipping which I like.Regarding the CD case, some tend to be cracked somewhat. I don't really care as I can change the case if I want to. They are not expensive!
