I am getting impatient.
Follow Ups:
As mentioned, the Eagles "Hotel California" has 192/24 on the stereo tracks. Unfortunately, you have to use the menu to select it, otherwise, it defaults to the 96/24 surround mix (which sounds crappy in stereo, btw).Neil Young's "Harvest", one of the best-sounding DVD-Audio discs I own, is 192/24.
Also, according to a web site I once visited, Yes' "Fragile" is supposed to be 192/24 even though the box says it's 96/24. Was this web site wrong?? I could have sworn that's what I read.

All 8 Hodie titles available currently feature discretely recorded
192kHz/24bit/MLP 2.0 and 96kHz/24bit/MLP 6.0.
The recently launched DVD-A sampler from AIX includes five pieces recorded at 192/24.
Denon has released two 192 kHz recordings with classical music (one, however, is 16 bit only). Alas, they are currently only available in Japan:
COAQ-12: Bruckner, Symphony No. 8
COAQ-13: Beethoven, Piano Concerto No.5 ("Emperor")Then, there are the highly interesting demo DVD-Audio discs produced for Panasonic/Technics in Germany, featuring live takes from the Hamburg Jazzport festivals 1999/2000/2001 (one disc for each year). They usually feature recordings in all kinds of formats and sampling rates, including 192/24. Unfortunately, the Technics DVD-A discs are not officially available for sale, so you'll have to look e.g. at eBay Germany, where these show up from time to time.
Classic Records is now working on the mastering for several 192/24 DVD-A disks.
Its annoying when they sell the medium with promise of 24/192 resolution ... and even after so many years ... we only have a handful of recordings capable of exploiting the medium to its fullest.SHAME SHAME SHAME.
Why? If you ask guys in the know (Mark Waldrep, Bob Ludwig, David Chesky et al) it's only in the last 12-18 months that 24/192K A/D Convertors reached the level of quality of 24/96K A/D convertors.
So until the newer A/D convertors became available, everyone that cared about a quality product was using 24/96K units. That being said, if you didn't know if a recording was 24/96K or 24/192K would you really be able to spot the difference? While I find 24/192K slightly preferential everytime I've heard it in comparison to 24/96K material it has been a sighted test.
JohnReading your post, I wonder: do you think some of the 24/192 material that has been published was not "true" 24/192?
Best
No, I don't think so.There are other factors involved, like mixing stations and processing stations supporting 24/192K in addition to the previously stated unhappiness with previous generation 24/192K A/D convertors.
There have been cases where resampling / upsampling / whatever the term du jour is have been implemented, and I personally think it's a bad idea.
