Anyone know of a site that lists DVD-A player available? I am struggling with trying to wait for a universal player that is better than good or buying a cheap DVD-A player to go with my cheap SACD player so I can experience the format. Any guidance as to sites or players that will give me DVD-A capability, allow me to glimpse its potential(or more!) while being very cheap? Up till now, there seems to be no cheap DVD-A players that deliver even a piece of DVD-A. At this point I would be willing to invest a few hundred $ to get going while I am waiting for the holy grail.
Follow Ups:
for example i bought a panasonic dvd-rp82 for less than a$500 (less than us$300) - it supposedly has a video playback quality that is "best in class" and the dvd audio playback is "not too shabby" - certainly comparable to the cheap sony sacd playershowever, redbook on this player is fairly ordinary (despite the fact it upsamples redbook to 88.2/24), unlike the cheap sonys which have decent redbook.
Pioneer has the DV-656A for sale in the USA. It is a Progressive Scan DVD player with DVD-A. It has the group button on the remote. I think they can be gotten for under $200 these days.
The Pioneer Elite DV-45A is the cheapest I have seen and heard that I would even consider recommending. It is $500 list price. There will be cheaper ones next year.
I chose it to hold me over until the firewire thing is worked out and the standard is implemented in a selection of players. (my pre-amp/pro has an unwired firewire port, I'll send it in to get it wired up (sunfire TGIII)
