Perhaps someone is just trying to raise the ante,
using DVD-A as a negotiation leverage to obtain more from Sony?Best
The same info was given on the DVD Audio daily website shortly after the first article with the hint.
I read the DVD Audio Daily site, and I don't think it's the same. The general impression from that was that Scheiner was all signed up and practially working on the disc.In this, he says they're still deciding on whether or not to even bother with a multi-channel version, which is a bit different in my book.
All the same, it's a downer for Beatles fans.
Personally (shoot me) I'm not that fussed about the Beatles. The material is old and sounds it, plus it's very thin, and by that I mean there's not much creative scope. The first stereo CD versions with vocals hard left and guitars hard right (or was it the other way around?) were horrible. I'd rather see modern high-profile titles from today's artists rather than re-releases of stuff we've heard thousands of times already.
so I guess we'll just have to recharge the scuba tanks.

I mean, with all of the references to SACD in the article, how else could you interpret it? Besides, only a fool would expect Elliot Scheiner's work to show up on DVD-A.
Dave,Hopefully this was intended as humour....
Otherwise, there must be a lot of incredibly "foolish" people out there, since they already own DVD-A titles from Mr. Scheiner including:
REM: "Reveal" and "Automatic For the People"
The Doobie Bros: "The Captain and Me"
The Eagles: "Hotel California"
Donald Fagen: "The Nightfly" and "Kamakariad"*
Steely Dan: "Two Against Nature" and "Everything Must Go"** Indicates remix complete, awaiting release
There are undoubtedly others in my collection that I haven't had the opportunity to check through.
Of course I haven't even touched on Steely Dan's "Gaucho" where all the remix work was done at 24/96K before conversion (at mastering time) to DSD.
So yes, we fully expect Elliot Scheiner's work to appear on DVD-Audio.
and then he helped Brian May do version 2.
I didn't "forget" anything Chris.I've just relocated, and I have two boxes of DVD-As yet to unpack. The titles I listed were easy to reach in one of my boxes.
I also said this:
"There are undoubtedly others in my collection that I haven't had the opportunity to check through."So in the future, before jumping to a conclusion that I've "forgotten" something I suggest that you read the ENTIRE post.
It was hardly a condemantion and since that was a fairly well discussed title here and in the magazines such as Sterephile, Sound & Vision (and the like) and one of the more controversial DVDA/5.1 mixes from E.S., I'm surprised you didn't have NATO committed to memory like I do.Maybe the move has you in a cranky mood?
Finish catching up on that beauty sleep, Chris
"""So in the future, before jumping to a conclusion that I've "forgotten" something I suggest that you read the ENTIRE post.""Relax John.
I'm sure we can all read.

What a stupid comment on your part.
so I'm putting my money where my stupid comment is.
I blew $50 on a crap tube today. $5 is a sacrificial bet. :)Chris, I hope you're right, but i dunno. I don't think they'd go through the trouble to be so covert about hinting that it's going to be released on SACD...
this is like counting the number of words in a press release again. (how many times they mentioned SACD)... Numerology doesn't really work. :)
I don't think this means anything... I think this article is completely at face value: Perhaps they're MAYBE talking about MAYBE remixing things to 5.1 in the future and haven't even discussed what format. As in,
"Well, we really should mix this in 5.1... Dunno what format we're gonna put it out on, but either way, it's gotta be 5.1 so why not do it now?"
... There may not even be plans for an actual 5.1 -release-. From what I read in that article, there isn't.
What tube gear are you running? New to tubes? I use the 12AU7 in a FOREPLAY preamp, but I have a few 12AX7x that I bought a while ago. I sold my buddy a rare/nice pair of Raytheon Windmill Getter 5751s and a nice old pair of Tung-Sol 12AX7s, but I still have a few left. What other tubes do you use?Email me sometime.
hamburgers for a hole day to earn those 5 bucks.I guess for him it's a serious bet. :)

but it will go torwards that $23 REM DVD~A I hope one day to save up for.
Document has a 24bit 192ks stereo track.
Do you think if I don't feed my dog for a few days, he will die? With that fiver and what I save on dog food for the week, I might just be able to afford it!Off to ship the Sony SCD-1 for repairs!
It weighed in at 67# and w/$5k of insurance, it was $46 to Pennslyvania from Miami. The Cary monoblock weighed 62# and with $2.5k insurance, cost $36 to North Carolina.

releases of the Beatles albums are all but assured, might want to back up and reconsider. : )
...Could be DTS for all we know...
it was practically a done deal when Kevin's site was quoted and while I'm only an English Lit and Communications major and therefore not as sharp a tack as many other's here at AA, I read the new story as "SPIN, SPIN, SPIN" and that spin is away from DVDA. If they don't do 5.1, it's SACD for sure.
so slow it has not had to be backed up since 4/02, while Hi-rez Highway has required 4 backups since 4/01.
- because it takes more words to explain why SACD is great?
- it serves as a service BBS for owners of broken Sony and Philips products?
- there's a correction every time SnaggS posts "factual" technical information?
- because there's a lot of posts about "vinyl sounds great" ?
- people post every two months the number of discs they have?
- people post twice on average for each title? (when they order it, when they listen to it), + sometimes at shipment notification
- because there are more posts about spindle manipulation and storage issues?etc
Troll-y Yours,
Frank
This recent one is already one of my favourite:

what annoys me about the Extended Compact Super Jewel Case (TM) is that they don't fit in CD storage unlike SACDs and they waste space/don't fit in DVD-V storage units.Fortunately, the Ikea Benno allows variable height storage shelves but otherwise i'm annoyed.
about the Ikea Benno tower™. I must say that the Super Jewel Case™ fits so nicely in the Ikea Benno™ towers, although if you fill up 15 discs in a row, it's a bit difficult to extract one disc without breaking a fingernail. The "Extended" Super Jewel Case™ can only fit in the DVD configuration of the Benno™, which is far from ideal, so I think it deserves a separate thread. My initital thinking is that the Extended SJC should be made illegal.

now we are getting some action back on this board!OK, so your point is- the more posts on a particular board, the worse is the format that the board discusses.
This must mean vinyl is way down in the gutter. It has had to backup 5 times since 4/10.
Frank
Read my post again, nowhere did I say that SACD is a bad format :)As for Vinyl, I can't say, because I don't surf that forum. Here's a purely hypothetical explanation, however: I suspect that the average post could be even more idiosyncratic than on the HRH... so that could increase volume quite a bit.
(God, I hope the Vinyl guys don't read this)
