by any chance, do you know if you can use a tube preamp for the front main and run the rest
with Meridian 500 series processor/preamp?
Follow Ups:
Kuma,Why would you want to unbalance the sound, such that the front mains sound different from the rest of the speakers in a surround environment?
Best way of accomplishing this though would be to run Front L/R into the tube preamp, using the same (repeatable) volume level on the tube preamp whenever you are using the Meridian.
John, just out of my curiosity. my HT set up sounded the best when i yanked out EAD processor and put tube preamp in it. You've got the good point tho, the whole thing
would be out of whack in corrctly set up multi-channel environment. However, since
I am running 4.0 conf. center won't be a problem.
Yes, but your Front to Back soundstage won't be seamless, which is what you're going for in a surround environment. No CC is great, if you aren't sharing the room ;-)
TTFN,
yeah. i thought about that, too to see how much difference I can hear.I will give it a shot to see how noticeable it is. It's possible I am better off running all channels with Meridian. I just have to see how its preamp section stacks up.
Other than the time you invest, you've nothing to lose.Hell, you're already a heretic for being preferential for DVD-Audio over SACD, but then again so am I :-)
