I had heard (read) somewhere that the individual discs will be available in January of 2006.
Follow Ups:
Supposedly they will be release the first four in early January (first week I think) then the last four at the end of the month. I guess the fairly solid rumor is that the discs will be a DVD-A + cd in Europe (that would be nice).
so let me ask a stupid question... (I was told 'no question is stupid' - and then I started posting on message boards!!! - but here it goes..) Might I guess that DVD-A discs and the associated video with them that is sold in Europe has the same region code as in the States? Fine line between - is it music - or is it a movie kind of thing.... If I can sit here in Michigan and play a European DVD-A - is there a way to get my hands on the European versions of these discs? Thanks - and excuse the ignorance.... tim.
Region coding will not be problem. As far as I know Warner uses region 0.Problem could be that the video will be PAL encoded.
If your player can't handle PAL encoding then you cannot view the DVD Video content.
The DVD Audio contect will play.
.
That release real DVD-Audios either with or without a seperate CD. I will never actually listen to the CD. But I am too afraid of damage to my equipment to put a DualDisc in it.I now am getting great sound from DVD-Audios. The real DVD-Audio's nearly all offer high resolution 2 channel stereo, often as high as 192kHz along with the high resolution 5.1 channel plus sometimes 2-3 Videos, lyrics on screen, interviews and other bonuses that SACD doesn't offer. I like the bigger cases and the newest ones have charts on the back showing the resolution of all programs on the disc, both DVD-Audio and DVD-Video areas.
Why are they f**king up a great thing with this sorry excuse for a format called DualDisc? DualDiscs are too thick, don't tell you what resolution they have, most do not even have DVD-Audio on them. We finally got full discolusure on DVD-Audio and now the information provided with DualDisc is less than when DVD-Audio first came out!
I will continue to buy and enjoy DVD-Audios and SACDs.
Actually, I might do the same thing. I think my Rotel RDV-1060 can play the PAL video if I use a switch on the back. I won't even consider a DualDisc.
I gotta laugh Theresa... I have also posted similar notes on DualDisc - and I know you have as well.... I don't think the record companies are listening!!! :-) tim
