I was just reading that this is remastered and also in 5.1 surround. Can anyone tell me what 'kind' of 5.1 surround? I was hoping for either DVD-A stereo or SACD stereo (why would Sony/Columbia want this on SACD - I don't know - I'm a goof!!) ... but who am I kidding right???
Follow Ups:
The album is not remastered in 5.1The deluxe package includes two DVDs (a documentary entitled "Wings for Wheels" about the making of the album and a 1975 concert) This is probably where the 5.1 comes in.
thanks--- You know how informative the newspapers are when it comes to anything that could possibly resemble hi-res... I am hoping that the cd is an upgrade from the original... The same article said that is was 'better than the gold cd pressing'. Gawd - I was hoping for a re-release of the catalog in hi-res... similar to the Dylan releases. I liked Springsteens earlier albums and it would have just been a huge bonus for me to have Greetings/Wild Innocent & the E street shuffle / Darkness / & Born to run in Hi res.... It seemed to make so much sense....Well - at least I thought it did.... :-)
The CD remaster is great and the live DVD is a revelation.
Now THAT's what I'm talkin' about. Funny story -My wife wanted to surprise me with it for my birthday.. So she called best buy and had them save it for her... We get there and split up - and it turns out they saved a copy of devils & dust instead... Well according to their computers - they only had one in the store ... It had been misplaced behind another disc - and I had it in my hands reading the back of it... I put it back where it was - and when the guy couldn't find it... I said 'Oh, I know where that is... and quickly retrieved it!! So- I don't get to hear it until Dec. 16th....I am looking forward to the improved sound on the CD & I read what was on the DVD...Brings me back to a show I saw him do in 1980 - right before The River was released.
