Got the Franz Ferdinand disc, $15.99 vs. CD's $14.99 at the Virgin Megastore on Michigan Avenue today. They're a bit more expensive than the Tower on Wabash, as I picked up Death Cab For Cutie's newest at Virgin for a friend for $13.99 and picked the same title up for me the day before for $11.99. I'm heading up to the room and might give it a spin on the DiscMan. I'm stoked....lol.
Later and behave. I'll be back tomorrow.

Chris, are you 100% against surround? I think you have stated that you weren't a big fan...maybe I'm wrong? Well since your cherry is broken go for the Talking Heads set...The stereo tracks are getting good notices on other boards but the surround tracks are blowing people away.
I'm all for surround, as I ran theatres here for many years, for a company that actually valued sight and sound. I also got into the surround thing back in '97, but obviously for DVDs. I have a decent mass market system just running 3.1 now, as I never did hook up the Paradigm ADP 170s.My two other systems are just 2 channel and I'll be happy when the MC day comes, as I have a lot of MC discs in my collection. STEREO is the priority for me, however.
I don't believe that this Franz Ferdinand disc has any MC content on it and while I'm firing up the DVDA system, I'm expecting 'enhanced stereo' whatever that is. It makes no mention of DVDA or MC anywhere on the covers, or the liner notes.
FF ain't the type of band to go nuts on sonics, but the CD layer sounds nice and fired right up in my $200 3 yr old Toshiba 2200. I got back late last night and didn't do the DVD side.
Chris
PS: It looks like 'enhanced stereo' is just DVD Video and not MLP.

This has been a FABULOUS investment, all of the recordings I have listened to so far (5 out of 8 - I like to space out my enjoyment) have been awesome !!
right now, blowing $120 on some music that I already own on vinyl ain't in the cards. I just got back from a trip to Notre Dame and then Chicago and don't have the extra cash to spend. I did buy my first three pieces of music since January, so yippee for me.Plus, I'm cheap.
Since you mentioned that you were tracking the price at Tower for $154, I thought you were implying that you were waiting for the price to go down, so in that context I pointed out that you could already get it cheaper at Amazon.
and did it last more than 30 seconds?
:^)
