I'm confused. I saw a Pioneer Elite Dv-50 at a dealer yesterday. I've done searches here and only found the Esoteric DV-50. Then there's the 567 and the 578-A and the 578A-S. All of these (not the Esoteric) are universal low cost players. What are the differences and which should I buy - if any?
Is there a difference between the 578A and the 578A-S?
Are any better than the Tosh Universal?
And - are there upcoming next generation universals that are worth waiting for?
I sold my Sony ES222 SACD and my Toshiba 9200 DVD-A and am ready for a Universal, but not in a hurry. Audio is my main concern, including superior Redbook. I have a Tosh 1560 unmodded for CD, but I'd like a Universal that sounds as good as that or better on Redbook. I need advice!
Follow Ups:
Based on previous posts:- Elite DV-50 is the same as the 563
- 578 is a replacement of the 563, with better video. but on the audio side, dsd is converted to 88.2 pcm
- not sure if the 567 is a non-us version of the 563. the 667 is an asian version.
Maybe it's the Pioneer Elite DV-59AVi
> Is there a difference between the 578A and the 578A-S?The "S" most likely indicates that the unit is silver colored.
