but it was only on one title (Blue Man Group: Audio)to be honest, i preferred the multi-stage BB PCM1704 on the A1 to the delta sigma PCM1738 on my AVC-A1SE+. but the denon product manager and i disagree on this - he says he's run a demo where the denon link to the amp sounded better.
i don't know - i've never been that impressed with the AVC-A1SE+ D/A - there's a lot of technology there (something like 16 PCM1738s in dual differential mode or something) but i tend to prefer the DACs on the players.
the amp sounds great on Dolby Digital and dts though, and that's what counts.
Follow Ups:
. . . is a standalone pre-pro with D-Link and/or firewire audio input.For the time being, my RSP-1066 pre-pro is doing a fine job with its pure-analog multi-channel inputs.
denon has a high end pre pro in the works (part of the "X" series) but apparently won't be ready till next year - they must have been working on it for the past 3 years now!i'm cheesed off that they've decided NOT to release a firmware update to my AVC-A1SE+ to support HDCD and Dolby Pro Logix iix. the update is for the AVC-A1SR or newer.
i briefly investigated the sound quality of my audiotrak prodigy sound card but have now decided it is not as good as my denon.
The Denon USA website says that the current upgrade is for the 5803 (SR) only, but that details on upgrading the 5800+ (SE+) would be forthcoming at an unspecified date- not that I care about PL IIx or HDCD in the receiver (my DVD player [9000] and my CD burner both support HDCD). Of course I didn't get the second edition D-link either because the 9000 DACs are so good. Where did you get the info on the non-upgrade of the 5800+? I'm always looking for new sources of info on my gear!
upgrade to the KAVC-A1SE board is not possible for "technical reasons"
