GUI stands for graphical user interface.

I had it set for dts. So the sound only went out the digital out. But since I moved it up to the REAL stereo (tubes), I now have it going out the analog outs. Thank you.
The funny thing is, I tried to recreate your problem with the various options that I though might affect CD playback. I tried them with the analog stereo L/R, the analog 5.1 front L/R, and the digital output. The one variation I overlooked was CD PLAYBACK--> DTS CD PLAYBACK with the analog outputs! I did try it with the digital out. Ooops! At any rate, I'm glad your getting CD playback now.I've really enjoyed the CD playback on my 45a. To my ears it is full, vibrant, clear and non-fatiguing. Add to that DVD-V, DVD-A and SACD - pretty good for $400. If only they could have programmed the AUDIO button on the remote to switch between the three SACD layers, instead of endless menu junk.
I also have a 45a and have been surprised by how much I enjoy its CD Red Book performance. It images well (to my ears)and has smooth frequency response (again, to the extent I can tell). I think it does as well, if not better, than my former Rotel/Musical Fidelity combination, using its own analog outputs.
