In Reply to: I believe ZS KEKL is correct this time. If the "Dual Discs" are mixed in with the CDs at the chain stores.... posted by Teresa on June 17, 2004 at 23:35:44:
I believe most go for around $25.00 or so.I don't believe any of this stuff (SACD, DVD-A, etc. etc.) is going to be any more than a niche market for diehard consumers.
Follow Ups:
I picked up ColdPlay's Live 2003 DVD/CD set for around $15.00. The Tori Amos, CD/DVD set was only $17.00. These prices are not to much higher than a typical CD, and certainly lower than what one would pay at any mall store for a CD alone.
What is your resource for obtaining these sets?Anywhere anyone shops at a mall store, the price would be significantly higher for the DVD/CD sets at least from what I have observed in my area.
Another oddball disk for another niche market of collectors. I imagine the DualDisk will be about as successful as the SACD hybrid- i.e. completely negligible to the mass market. Spec or no spec, there have already been dual sided CD/DVD combos released. No consumer frenzy has followed.
Just wondered.I picked up the Tosh SD6915 just for kicks. The Pioneer 563A I tried was a good player for the buck but I returned it after I learned about the incompatible software problems.
Maybe more of these cheaper universal players will hopefully give some a jumpstart to try the hi-rez formats.
Without getting into morbid details, my life has been one crisis after another since September. My next big purchase will be a turntable, and that has been on the back burner for months. CD player is possibly sometime after that. Lots of other things have taken priority.
