I bought this DVD-A but was very disappointd when BOTH Hi-Res mixes (5.1 surround and 2.0 stereo) would not produce any sound. I would like to make sure there are playable copies available before re-ordering.

This sounds like the same problem I reported earlier. Ony my Toshiba SD 57800 (and 4800), it only plays in the Dolby Digital Mode. Later discs play OK in the hi rez mode.
Sorry I didn't mention that one. It is very good sonically, but Comissiona's approach just doesn't grab me. I would suspect that you have a firmware problem rather than a bad disc.
My copy of the Saint-Saens / Franck plays fine on the Technics A10 and the Pioneer DV-47Ai. Didn't realize there was a problem with this disc. The only Silverline disc which has been slightly problematical is the Swan Lake excertps (for the reasons Jim mentioned). Hope you'll be able to resolve the problem with the Saint-Saens - the depth of this recording is incredible!
