Hi
Follow Ups:
I know, that even though I dont even have a DVD-A player that I want to support Hi-Rez. Fact is, its not a beta vs vhs war, since you can easier support both formats on a chip, everything else in the machine can be the same.So,
If DVD-A'ers dont buy SACD's, theyre just voting against hi-rez
If SACD'ers dont buy DVD-A's, theyre just voting against hi-rezThe music companies have made their various choices for now. Whilst I much prefer SACD, I can still be proud of having Neil Young's albums on DVD-A..... CD ? Pointless...
So, time to bury the hatchet and buy the music you like on whatever hi-rez format it arrives. Otherwise we may as well close down these forums and move back to Vinyl..
I'm listening to Blonde on Blonde now.. sounds brilliant. You're crazy if you dont have this SACD, and I'm a fool for not having Harvest on DVD-A.PS. Do the Neil Young releases have a 192/24 track ?
(a) Harvest DVD-A: 192kHz/24bit in 2ch, and 96kHz/24bit in 5.1;
(b) Latest Neil Young DVD-As: I believe they are 2-ch only in 176kHz/24bit.
That being Circuit City and Best Buy stores that carries them in my area. Titles sold aren't being restocked nor are there any new releases being added.SACD is not much better regarding those two retailers either!
Was at the local Best Buy last night. A fairly large section for SACDs, prominently displayed. No DVD-As in sight anywhere.
and 2 of SACD. They have tremendous depth of stock on newer bands and popular music but the selection is too narrow for the space. I was in a Best Buy in Greensboro, NC 2 weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised to find a large selection of newer Pentatone Classics releases - so I bought 8 of them. Hard to believe that they'll get many customers looking for Rachmaninov's Vespers at that Best Buy. I think it is fair to say that the music "big boxes" don't know what they're doing with Hi Rez.

Maybe why.....ya tink!Seems like we're stalled in neutral.
now that DualDisc is here expect a flood of DVD-Audio / CD hybrids! You may be in for a real treat.
why do you think there is lack of new titles? It's because the old ones did not sell.

Independant artists and recording engineers are embracing the DVD-A format because we can make our own DVD-A's.
Now that burning software and blank discs are readily available, this should come as no surprise.Minimal cost for SACD authoring and 5000 discs, 18K dollars.
Minimal cost for DVD-A authoring and 5000 discs, 4700 dollars.
