"Some may find the low bass to be an issue in many of these Vanguard recordings"

I'm sure this wasn't a problem 40 years ago. In the Silverline Classics it seems to be confined to the LFE channel. On my system I can control the LFE mix in the Outlaw Audio ICBM. As you can read in my post, I'm wondering if anyone can shed some light on the exact cuse of these "subsonics" which were prevalent even on Vanguard LPs.

Jim, I have not been able to find any specific information on this problem. I can tell you that I have experienced rumble problems with a large percentage of Vanguard LPs. Since there was no subway in Utah to blame, I think the best guess is that the rumble was created by the tape deck itself, especially given that the problem is not an intermittent one, but rather continuous. If you experience the problem with DVD-A that also rules out LP pressing problems. So the only other logical candidate is the tape machine.FYI, I have one of the SACDs (the V. Williams) and did not experience any rumble problems. This is a 2-channel only SACD, so there is no LFE channel.
