If universal is putting out music DVD's why do they not include a hi-rez DVD-A layer, say stereo as well. Would this fit? It would sure give a boost to sales as for myself, I am always looking for music DVD's but I am put off by the sound quality of DD and DTS. Too compressed in most cases, other than how AIX manages to get superior sound. I am sure that a full surround layer would not fit on conventional discs. I see the next step in probably HDDVD as it is backwards compatible with DVD versus blu-ray which is not.Anyway, would be nice to see more DVD-A options on many of the music DVD's now being offered.
I would imagine that few record companies are interested in putting hi-rez audio on what is essentially an unprotected format.
But pirates aren't interested in the hirez. Rather, it's the easy_on_the_bandwidth AC3 stuff which they like to copy (so they can use it via internet, ipod etc. ).
