Stopped in the local Wow!/Good Guys to look for music DVD's. Did'nt find what i wanted so i made my way to the speaker section. First i looked at the smaller MA bookshelf speakers, (dont remember model) the one for $1499 a pair. They sounded quite good with a warm & detailed sound. So i decided to audition the S-10's, especially since they had this georgeous (rosemah?) finish which to me looked like red mahagony. The finish had just a light sheen to it, but looked great! It was hooked up to some hi end Parasound amp 125wpc (dont know model) with a Parasound pre-amp & Denon SACD CDP. I did'nt expect to audition this speaker so i did'nt have any of my music, instead the salesman put in a SACD sampler of some jazz. Bassically more of what the smaller version had to offer, crisp highs with lots of detail (without being harsh), & tight bass with excellent prat! Imaging was excellent with a fairly wide soundstage. The bass was very punchy with good extension belying the speakers small footprint. If i did'nt aready have some large mains (intagrated into a HT) i would seriously consider these, yes i think they're that good! They seem a little expensive @ $2000 pair, but i've had demoed Snell CV's for $2000 & IMHO ("no flames please) these are a better speaker! "Just my personal opinion!!"
