The Fisher AZ125 is perhaps the most sorely underappreciated consumer amp in history-- we're talking a Golden Age amp with on-board gas tube regulation for the El 34 screens (which is actually run properly, or perhaps appropriately here; only 290 v or so on the screens and high DC on the plates, which can take it) AWESOME output iron (Freed, I believe) a great input circuit, and quality parts right out the door. (Well... not coupling caps...)The Eico Hf60s, of which I own a pair custom built by Greg Boynton and Andy Bouwman of Vintage Tube Services, at least are recognized to a degree, if only for the Acro TO330(My #1 opt. tranny)I have been friends with Greg and Andy since the early 80s, and have had many enjoyable listening sessions with his 125s. He runs all metal base Mullards and the finest driver tubes (of course)into his Altec 820 system with twin field-coil 15" woofers, adapted 291s replacing the 802s, and an Ionovac shimmering away on top. His Koetsu really shines through that combo! Yeah, I have much love for the 125. Hard to believe its a consumer amp! To be honest, you'd have to throw a pair of Marantz 2s down in front of me to get me to think about leaving a pair of 125s... Power, delicacy, soundstaging; I don't miss his 300B amps (well, maybe a little) when the fabuloso 125s are in the house. Greg Boynton just picked up a match for his for only $600 on ebay, lucky SOB! Good to hear from another Fisher-ite! Chris
