Re: Curbside Score: Incredible Sansui AU-D9 integrated amplifier

Hi, Dave:

Sure! The general consensus for the AU-D9 is that it is an excellent sounding amplifier and was given rave reviews when it was new. Apparently, clean examples are fetching good money these days, so there is a bit of a following for them out there.

The amplifier also features a built-in provision for handling both MM and MC phono cartridges and is a fairly straight-forward looking piece of gear.

I would not say that Sansui was overtly generous in the veneer they used in their cabinets, however. I have never seen such thinly "skinned" veneer, except in cabinets provided for components by Luxman and Yamaha. However, the overall quality of construction is good with many fine parts throughout.

The AU-D9 retailed for $650 when new in 1979, if that tells you anything.

Thanks again!
