RTR speakers (HPR-12M Magnums) review

Yesterday(a few lines down) I posted that I had picked up a pair of these speakers for $40 at an estate sale. I really didn't know what they were at the time, but all the drivers appeared to be in good shape, so I took a chance. Wow, these speakers are really good! They stand 36" tall and have what appears to be two 12" woofers in the bottom section and an array of 4 tweeters (or maybe 3 tweeters and a midrange) in the upper section - each section has a separate grill frame covering it. One of the tweeters appears to be a horn or maybe an electrostatic type of speaker(it has a plastic cone). I estimate that the cabinets weigh between 60 and 70 pounds each. Tonight I hooked them up to my Marantz 26 for a test drive with my test disc, Pat Metheny's "Imaginary Day". The sound from these monsters was immediately comparable to vintage Altecs, Advents, and JBLs that I've previously owned. Tremendous high end and solid bass that you literally can "feel". I've got plenty of speakers right now and these RTRs would almost give my Klipsch Fortes a run for their money - I may have to find a way to squeeze them into my computer room and keep them a while. So if you ever come across this brand of speaker, pay attention, they may be gems - I had never even heard of RTRs before yesterday - wow, was I impressed! If anyone has any technical info on these they could share, it would be much appreciated! - Ken
