Well, there really isn't an answer to your question. They are completely different tubes, and in different circuits. The application is a large factor in the overall sound. As a general note (VERY general), the 6922 (6DJ8) sound tends towards a transparent, etched sound that gives the impression of alot of detail. It is sometimes a challenge to find an example that is well balanced tonally, since they tend to sound a bit dry and bright. A 12AX7 generally gives a warmer sound, albeit with a loss of detail (compared with a 6DJ8). It is really arguable which is the better tube. From a tonal perspective, a 12AX7 may be more consonant with the CD sound, offsetting the typical digital edgyness. However, one factor concerning the use of a 12AX7 in a CD player output stage is that the gain of the tube is much higher than typically needed for the application, which means that either a large amount of negative feedback is used to reduce the gain, or the tube is used as a cathode follower (100% local negative feedback), an application where the 12AX7 may not be as good as a 6DJ8 due to its higher plate resistance/lower current capability.
