No fakes - RSD is NOT RFT but a FRG (West German) rebrander...

Hello g,

first of all, to clarify: I have nothing to do with the seller.

Then to the facts:

The item is correctly labeled and not a fake/fraud. Stamps and other details do work out. Even the boxes are the way they should look like for RSD.

RFT (GDR/East Germany) had little to do with RSD, other than occasionally supplying OEM valves.

RSD (RoehrenSpezialDienst) was a warehousing and rebranding company in Frankfurt/German Federal Republic (West Germany) which bought valves and semiconductors on the spot market or as OEM products, and labeled them (or had them labeled) with their on RSD stamp. The stock and programme was rather big - in late 1982, they had about 40 Million valves available, from several thousand types...

RSD had a reputation of delivering reasonable quality at low price.

The large warehouse in Frankfurnt has been shut down about a decade ago, and now (one person is occasionally still selling remaining stock from his house in the Taunus (at least he was in 2001)...

Some of their products were first rate - I still have Mullard GZ34s and E188CCs, RFT EL34, RCA 83s, Telefunken RV12P2000, RL12P35 and ECC88s as well as Philips EC55 planar triodes with RSD stamp and packaging (well, some of the packaging is rather brittle, considering its age (50 years) this is not surprising, though).

At the time (1982) I frequently bought from their warehouse in the Mainzer Landstrasse in Frankfurt/Main from 'pocket money' at a fraction of the price which would have been asked for the materials with the original logo stamping.

But other products were cheap imports from Central/Eastern Europe and China. ECC83s from China were sold with RSD logo in quantities. They may not be as good as Western or Central European stuff, but at (in the 1980ies) one quarter of the price of the 'top brands' which by that time were rebranding themselves, that was a suitable compromise.

Now the shown RSD-labeled valves look exactly like some I pulled from the stock of a shutdown Radio and TV repair shop several years back - therefore I do not think a customer bidding on these is defrauded...

Regards,
