6Ñ4Ã-EB -- 3W RF, LN, High Gm - RF GG Saratov Very Low Noise Military Grade noval small signal triode in production = AD1.(4D1?? AD1 is an output triode) Very low Cag, great Mu/Gm combination. For DC and low frequencies, this tube is identical to 6S3P (all DC specs match). But while 6S3P has 7.4pF input and 2.2 pf grid-to-plate capacitances, 6S4P has 13pF input and 0.17 pF grid-to-plate. While plate assemblies between the micas are identical, there are visible differences.
"designers I know in Russia use the octal 6N8S (6SN7 clone), not as much for it's sound, rather for the option of upgrading to Western NOS tubes. Others experiment with medium current tubes (6N6P, 6S45P, 6S3P-6S4P)."
6S3-PE Reflektor (Saratov), 03/1968. A great single triode. High frequency, high-Gm, high-Mu, low noise. You won't believe it looking at it - the plate assembly is tiny, half the size of 12AX7 or 6N2P plate, how did they squeeze all that juice there? But it has the guts indeed. The catch: 8pF input capacitance and only 160V rated plate voltage. The twin tube, 6S4P, has the same DC anf gain specs, but different capacitances: very low grid-to-plate (0.2pF) yet very high input (13pF). Tradeoffs everywhere...
