Need help hooking up a theater research speaker

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

I have a theatre research speaker tower, it is a tr-1610 tower with 2 mid rangers, a tweeter and a sub that I want to hook up to my comp. What do I need to do to do this? I have tried hooking this speaker up to my sterio before and I dont know if I even did that right. The probelm is it has two sets of connections to hook the speakers up to, there is a positive and negative on top and a positive and negative on bottom, and there is a peice of metal running between the two positives. If I hook up just the top set it sounds like only the tweeter is running and if I hook up just the bottom set it sounds like everything but the tweeter is running, but I am not sure, when I tried hooking up both sets it just didnt sound right, kinda staticy.
