Re: castle tay speakers

207.136.50.170

I own a pair of Castle Cliftons (one step below Tay) and like the Tay very much. The Tay has no low bass (of course, they are small) but the bass they do have is very musical and "real"; Castle does not tune the enclosure lower to try and make the speaker sound bigger in the low end. The tweeter is one of my favorites very smooth and with good image; though not the absolute best. Again, these are an affordable speaker and I feel they perform way above their price point. My Cliftons are even smaller than the Tay and I still find them to be very natural and warm, though they can get bright depending on equipment. Mine now have active x-overs and the brightness is diminished and all my favorite qualities improved. I guess the Tay's strongest suit would be in acoustic and choral music where they do a wonderful job with vocals. I feel that the Castles are very attractive and sturdily built as well. These speakers are very affordable, so if buying used I would not pay much more than a few hundred bucks.
