I have a set of Wharfedale Vanguards which was the model that came right after the E70 and E90 and just before Wharfedale went into the tank with the modus line. The E series was in the earlier 80s and the Vanguards were circa 1988-1993The speakers look like the E-70 link I've priovided except the Vanguards have more steps in the contour controls and one less and a different midrange driver.
What I'm trying to guage is how much roughly they are worth today and how much it might cost to spruce them up -- the contour controls are a little staticky and cut out the tweeter if turned to a slot they don't like, and the rubber surrounds might need replacing. I'd replace the woofers completely if it was not too expensive.
I'm keeping them for sentimental purposes and the fact that they are stonkingly fun rock and Roll speakers. Unlike the E70 shown these speakers are rated 40hz-23khz 175watts RMS and 8ohm --- boasting numbers similar to the E-90.
I saw the E-90 selling for $1000.00US with a fair number of bids - so my eyebrows raised a bit making me think they're worth holding onto more than I thought - though the Vanguard looks closer to the 70.
So anyone who can ballpark the blue book on the E70 and E90 so I might know where the Vanguard sits would be a great help -- and roughly how much money and effort is requirted to clean all these contacts and replacing rubber surrounds.
Thanks everyone and anyone who can help out.
