Hi.What we can pick up from Home Depots & the like hardware stores are
for general power supply use. SOOW or SJTW are much better than those cheapie building wires, like Romax, THHN, RW90 etc., can be used as extension power cord to power your rigs. But I won't use them for audio signal use. I would use at least radio wire or equipment wire,
like TEW #14 SINGLE conductor with multi strands for its flexible.SOOW got a physically much better & more costly jacket compound: CPE, chorinated polyethylene while SJTW got a basically PVC compound.
SOOW #14/4 (4 conductors) is rated 15A @600V 105C while SJTW #14/3C
(3 conductors) is rated 10A @300V 60C.One thing I must point out: try not to use multi conductors in the
same cable as coductors too close to each other in the same jacket
only deteriate the cable performance electrically & sonically. This
is cable ABC.For speaker cables, always run SINGLE pairs of cables separately.
Let me tell you, a very very expensive brandname speaker cable,
the conductors of positive & the negative polarity are run singlely with EQUAL distance span from each other. Apparently the cable makeer
want to minimise the potential interference btwn the two cable condcutors.Good listening
