Please don't equate the current wave with the Soviet refugees, who often took great risk escaping.There was no risk of any kind for the current wave. They stayed through the worst years of putin's regime because they liked it that way or just didn't mind, because it didn't affect them directly. Only now, when their lives might be at some risk, they decided to leave. They are simply opportunists.
Seven months of murderous war was, apparently, not enough.
They let hundreds of thousands of their countrymen take part in the war, tens of thousands killed... that was all OK, for as long as they were allowed to go on with their comfortable lives.
