The EU got overwhelmed with Syrian asylum seekers and they eventually backed off from letting them in. Refugee camps were established. Many of the Syrians, like the Ukrainians want to go back to their homes when its safe.
We're looking at probably over 2 million since Biden took over. The majority of them released will never show up for a hearing. In the meantime, the states have to educate their kids and give them free health care. Sure, that's the humanitarian thing to do, but what about our own people?
Finish the wall and add sensors to monitor it and we can stop most of the 'got aways' and make it far harder to get the drugs into the US. Then, quickly deport people that just want a better life which is the vast majority. Perhaps create refugee camps and make them stay there where it's safer. Basically, plug the loopholes and enforce existing law.
Right now, it is open borders. And the vast majority can stay almost forever if they keep their heads down. After 10 years or 20 or more, it's heartless to send them back. So, nothing ever gets done.
Of course, eVerify would go a long way to fixing the problem. Take away the jobs and they'll stop coming. But that's yet another political problem that neither side will fix due to their own agendas and perverse reasons that have nothing to do for what best for Americans in general.
